What is happening now...
After several days talking to people around Truckee and Tahoe Donner; downtown Truckee, Doctors offices, Trout Creek, and the grocery stores, it appears most people want to know why it’s a good time to buy and if the bottom of the real estate market is here or not. Since my crystal ball broke last week I won’t be able to answer if we’ve seen the bottom. What I can say is purchasing real estate is a long term investment not suitable for the day traders. You purchase a quality of life; a family cabin to enjoy for years to come or maybe the perfect spot to crash close to the ski lifts or expanding to a larger home with the growth of your family. Purchasing real estate is long term asset which you invest in the life style of your choice.
Now why is it a good time to buy, other than an investment in your life style…money is cheap, “cheapest since 1983” quotes Katie Rice with O’Dette Mortgage. AND most buyers are waiting on the fence for a definitley a sign of the bottom (the feeding frenzy, I suspect). When this feeding frenzy starts most buyers won’t be able to perform quick enough and will loose out on the opportunity to invest in that dream cabin in the mountains or the life style they’ve hoped for. Not to mention what the interest rate will do with the demand for money rapidly increasing. So why not get a head of the curve and a find your dream home in the mountains before it’s too late?
There are some distress sales in Tahoe Donner, Truckee and Lake Tahoe that might work for you. However, there are plenty of properties available which don’t require bank approval and still have a low price tag.
The most important thing to remember is when purchasing property; you are purchasing a life style for you, your family and friends or even a perk for your employees. What ever your dream of being in the mountains is; there’s no better time to purchase real estate in Tahoe Donner, Truckee or Lake Tahoe than NOW.
